Your child will have a BOOMERANG folder that will go home each day and must be returned to school each day also. In this folder, They will have their DAILY reading homework page, important papers (notes to and from school), spelling list, take-home readers, and their conduct page. I require each student to be responsible for bringing their Boomerang folder with their graded work home and back to school each day. You will find that this is a very good organizational tool for your child to become responsible and independent in their homework and activities. At any time during the year that your child's Boomerang folder needs to be replaced due to wear and tear, please feel free to do so. Just please keep the plastic inserts and replace the folder. Below is a description of each page in their Boomerang folder.
    Thank you.
Homework: This is where their daily homework is kept. I DO NOT check other folders for this homework. They are to complete any homework in this space and return it THE NEXT DAY unless other specifications are made. I am fully aware of after school activities. I have children of my own and they also have homework before they are allowed to attend. This homework should not take more than 15 minutes to do daily. This is instilling a responsibility in them and creating good early study habits. I do not give homework on Fridays!
Important Papers: This is where I will place any notes that go home from school. This may include school newsletters, lunch menus or notes from myself. This is also the place where you will send your notes to me. If there is a different way your child goes home, concerns or any other note you send to school should go in this place. I check this daily.
Spelling list: The children's weekly spelling list will go here. I suggest you keep it in their folder so it doesn't get lost. You may feel it better to post in your home or on the frig if that is better for you. I will send it in this place in the folders on Monday. I will not ask for it back. This is for you and your child to study.
Reading Log: Your child will be issued a take-home reader. I will assign weekly stories in this reader for your child to complete. These stories are AR stories and your child will be responisble for taking an AR test covering these stories. Any reading that is done, whether it be at home or at school, your child will be expected to log that information on this reading log. This sheet is to stay in the Boomerang folder at ALL TIMES!!!Conduct Page: I will place a monthly calendar in this place. They will color their conduct in daily and bring it home for you to initial each night. Green is GREAT!!!! I will write on their calendar if there is a color change for that day. Please check these daily and initial!

Teaching is my passion. I enjoy the hugs and all the great smiles I get each day the children enter my classroom. My absolute joy is to see their faces light up when they have learned something new or have discovered something that they can connect to their daily lives. The stories I hear are both funny and sad. They LOVE to tell all! From their sneaky little secrets to the story of ant bites.....they are a joy to watch and hear every day.
I am a Christian and a member of the Vidor Church of Christ. I have been married for 23 great years to Marvin. We have two wonderful kids, Kailyn (16) and Garrison (12). They keep me busy with all of their activities such as band and twirling (Kai), and football and guitar (Garrison). We love to go hunting, fishing, 4-wheeler riding, traveling, swimming and just hanging around the house watching movies together as a family. As for me, I love computers, photography, floating in the pool, hanging out with friends, scrapbooking, reading, making Starbucks runs and long bubble baths! Of course teaching is also a favorite too! OH....and of course...embarrassing my kids by acting a little crazy around their friends!!! (shhh....that's my favorite thing!) I am a little crazy at times, but life is short and I want to make the best of it. My philosophy is that learning can and should be fun.
